Life After Divorce: The Holiday Edition

No one really contemplates what their life will be like after divorce.  One doesn’t think about family barbeque’s (minus one), or birthday parties, or how you’ll feel over the holiday season which goes through the changing of three month names (for those who need help that would be November, December, and January!).  Life after divorce is not really what’s on one’s mind when fantasizing of being ...

Divorced? Play video games!

What does getting a divorce have to do with playing video games? Oh, I don’t know, maybe a need to have a little fun in your life while it is seemingly crumbling down around you.

I don’t play nintendo wii“on a regular basis but when I do boy do I have a good time!

Is cheating justified?

People cheat because there is a need that is not being met?

Do you agree? I do. I would not have agreed a few short months ago.

I just wrote an article for my Examiner column asking the question: are affairs exciting or evil?

Read my column to get my take. I’ve evolved quite a bit in the last few months ...

Divorce and Suicide

I was shocked when I heard about the death of fashion designer Alexander’s McQueen‘s a few days ago. I was saddened when I found out he had committed suicide.

There have been hundreds of articles written about his death, his achievements, his fashions. One thing I noticed was how few times the actual word “suicide” came up when talking about his death.

To isolate or not to isolate…that’s not a question

On my radio show Divorce Guru, I speak about the tendency to isolate oneself in life after divorce or breakup. This is why I advocate that after your heart has been ripped from your heart, you need to build and nurture community. Heck, even if you haven’t been divorced, everyone isolates themselves because it’s easier and get comfortable, neglecting the community around you. Surprisingly, I got this message from some of my non-divorced peeps.

I ...

Was it a younger woman?

“Was it a younger woman?” This question has haunted me ever since I separated from my ex husband…I’m young, attractive, smart. So it had to be a younger woman, right?

I went to a cocktail party last night (thanks B.G.!) which was thrown by a political consulting firm. Everyone at the party had something to do with politics, school boards, lawyers, lobbyists, etc. Everyone but me. Know how you go to a party and everyone asks ...

Divorce and children

I know I usually write about fun, and sex (or lack of!) online dating, and sometimes how much my ex gets on my nerves. Well, I haven’t written about my ex getting on my nerves lately because he isn’t. And when he was, it usually had to do with issues that had to deal more with me, not him. So ex-husband if you’re reading this (and I know you are!) we’re cool. What I’ve been thinking ...
