not the first one to get a bad weave after divorce!
Kate Gosselin got married to Jon, had 2 kids, had 6 more (invitro) then got a reality show, Jon & Kate plus 8 (get it 8 kids?). Her and hubby Jon started fighting, got divorced, now she has the show on her own, cutting her ex out of $70,000 an episode. Nicely done Kate.
So the big news now is that Kate got hair extensions. She used to have this crazy spiky bob thing that looks great if you’re a black woman w/ black woman hair. Not so good if you’re a white woman w/ white woman hair…but I am a little biased (uh, check out my picture I’m black!)
Anywhoo, everyone is talking about her new long hair. First of all, look at the picture. Her hair looks awful! The ghetto girl living in the hood could have hooked up Kate Gosselin’s hair in about 3 hours and for about $150 bucks! Does anyone not realize that her new extensions look horrible? She even got the good kind…small strands of fake hair (or real hair…it’s just not yours!)are bonded to small strands of the hair on your head. (In case you are wondering, the bad kind involve something called a “track” and glue.) And a black hairdresser did her hair!
Why is Kate getting so much publicity over her hair? One, because her previous style was hideous. Come to think of it, her new style is hideous! But most importantly it is because we can all relate to wanting to change.
After my divorce I got my hair cut because I needed change. Then I got a weave because I needed another change. My ex husband even needed change. He cut his locks which had grown to the middle of his back after we split up. I think everyone wants to look different and feel better about themselves after having their heart broken. I get that. And for whatever reason people love (or love to hate) Jon and Kate Gosselin. Heck, I’ve wrote several articles about them on my Examiner column.
I think Kate getting new hair is good for her even though her weave is ugly. I think changing your look is great…I do often…that’s the fun of being a woman. That being said it is more important to give your spirit, attitude, and self-esteem a makeover. Way more important than hair extensions or fake boobs. Give yourself a 20 hour inner makeover: meditate, go on a retreat, journal, read positive words-then get the outer makeover. And one more thing…when you get the outer makeover, make sure you don’t sit in a chair for 20 hours and have your hair come out no better than a $20 wig you might see on your local street corner!
I’m just sayin’.
