I can not get this song out of my head! What song? The Steve Miller Band’s “Take the Money and Run.”
Why? Because I believe it’s a sign to let all the soon to be divorced people out there to “take the money and run!”
Some of you, don’t ask me why, don’t want any money from your higher paid spouse for alimony or child support.
I take that back…I do know why. You think your soon to be ex will be more agreeable about the divorce, will be nicer to you about the divorce, or will forgive you because you wanted the divorce.
Been there done that, don’t work. They will still act like sh*t towards you, if they’re acting like sh*t towards you now. No amount of money is going to make anyone, ex-partners included, behave like good, kind, and decent people.
Alimony and child support laws are set in place so you can:
1. Feed your children
2. Not live in a cardboard box
3. Not have Raamen noodles be the staple of your diet
4. Have modern conveniences like electricity and shoes
Get it? Listen to the chorus in the song below and “take the money and run!” Give it a few months, you’ll be thanking me for this advice!
