“An emptiness when you realize that the loneliest you’ve ever been is within a marriage…” from The Bride Stripped Bare, Anonymous
This particular line from this book really spoke to me. I realized that yes, the loneliest times I’ve ever had have been within my marriage. Yes, I’ve been lonely since I’ve been divorced but it has been different. More a relief, almost a choice to be lonely. It’s understandable when you’re single…outrageous when married.
No one, husband or wife, should be lonely within their marriage. Marriage is supposed to be a union of two people. Are you lonely in your marriage? Talk to your spouse before it leads to divorce. And if you are contemplating or are already divorced, reflect back on the times that you did feel that pang in your heart…forgive yourself and forgive your former partner. To paraphrase a gospel song that I grew up with…”Trouble don’t last always.” Neither does loneliness.
Namaste,
your Divorce Guru,
Kim
