What Would Jesus Do…If He Got Divorced?

by Kim Hess on October 30, 2008

I was talking to my sister today because of a regrettable action that occurred today. I had to call her so she could talk some sense into me before I did something I would regret. Unfortunately, I didn’t call her until after the regrettable action. Which I don’t really regret.

So, I did the deed which I should regret but don’t and then called my younger, beautiful, thin sister who is NOT going through a divorce but has been through some pretty horrific breakups herself. She understands me. My sister understands that I’m trying to become a better person. She understands that I’m trying to become an enlightened being. I call her with a new Buddhist teaching I’ve discovered. I send her scriptures from the Bible about perseverance and love. I text her with new breathing exercises and appreciating the energy that lives within us, trees, and the sun. Yep, this divorce is making me a better person, a good person who believes we all come from one universal source and that faith, hope, and love will bring peace to our lives. Studying the teachings of the great spiritual leaders has made me love my fellow man and woman. Except maybe one person…I’m sure you all can guess who that is.

So the question I posed to my darling, loving sis is “What would Jesus do?” What would Jesus do if he found someone on Facebook or MySpace and had the ability to send them a nasty, mean, rude, immature, very unspiritual email message? Would He turn the other cheek and get back to those quarterly reports he should have been working on, or tell this person how much He despises the ground they walk on and hope they rot in H-E- double hockey sticks?

My younger and wiser sister said that, no, Jesus would not send his nemesis the nasty email. Jesus knows it would not benefit anyone and He would take the mature upper hand (as usual…you know forgiving those that have wronged him, they know not what they do…).

Know what I told my more mature little sister? Thank God I’m not Jesus!
